I recently came across a story about a small coffee shop that gives it’s customers an option to buy suspended coffees along with their own purchase to be held for someone who comes in off the street in need of a warm drink. This Italian tradition is making it’s way to coffee shops across the country.
A nice man comes in to buy a coffee for himself and asks to purchase 4 suspended coffees, the next family comes in and buys 3… it keeps going – all day people give a little of their spare change to provide a moment of happiness to someone in need. Then, when someone who can’t afford a cup comes in, all they have to do is ask if there are any suspended coffees available.
I instantly fell in love with this idea. First of all, for those of you who don’t know me very well… I am a coffee lover; okay, addict, but lover sounds less intense. I am also a random acts of kindness fan. Seriously, if I could make people smile for a living, I’d be the happiest girl in the world. But since I can’t, I like to do as much as I can and then live vicariously through other kind people’s great ideas.
Hope this brings a smile to your face today, and remember that to give without expecting anything in return is one of the greatest joys in life. Give it a try … You’ll soon become an addict too.
I even found a Facebook Page devoted to this cause, check it out: https://www.facebook.com/SuspendedCoffeess
Keep Smiling :)
