Meet Xiao Liwu … “Little Gift”

In heart of yesterday’s tragic event in Boston, I thought I’d try to help lighten the mood and give you all a reason to smile.  What makes people happier than baby animals? … Not a whole lot else. That’s why I would like to introduce you to the newest addition to the San Diego Zoo… baby panda, Xiao Liwu, which means “Little Gift.” This cute little guy can be seen climbing trees and taking naps on display with his mama, Bai Yun.

On my last trip to San Diego I went to the zoo for my first time and saw this little guy in action:

I mean, how can you not smile looking at that cute little face?

This guy was a dare devil. I watched him climb up a super tall tree, and held my breath the whole time in fear of him crashing to the ground.

Fun fact; the lady speaking at the exhibit said that baby pandas can actually fall from great heights and be perfectly fine. I guess that’s why mama Bai Yun didn’t look the least bit concerned.

Moral of the story today – Pandas are cute :) Thinking about this moment, I realize how important it is to embrace and celebrate the little gifts in life. The moments when no matter what is going on around you, you have a reason to smile… and that’s all the comfort you need. What little gifts have you given or recieved today?

Want to see Xiao Liwu for yourself? The San Diego Zoo has a Panda Cam on their website! Check it out.

Keep Smiling :)
